| Getting to know me ~~~
I started singing in my church when I was just a
young girl. I joined the adult choir and then after teaching
myself to play piano became the choir director and organist.
Later I would go to college in West Virginia and study vocal performance
and piano. I was a section leader in our concert choir and the
secretary and tour director, scheduling tours throughout the entire east
coast. I also became the lead singer for a country/rock local band
in Elkins, WV and I was hooked. The mic has not left my
lips since.
Since college I have had many opportunities to
perform with a variety of bands from Washington, DC and now back to my
mountain roots in the Shenandoah Valley. I have sung pop,
rock, country, big band, funk, blues, jazz, folk and am just entering
the incredible world of bluegrass.
Early this Fall I will be heading to The
International Bluegrass Music Association in
Nashville with Bill Emerson to promote our new CD "Bill Emerson and The
Sweet Dixie Band." I am featured throughout the CD singing harmony
on most of the songs along with 2 originals and one cover.
I am performing locally with different musicians
and am starting on my first solo CD project. I have waited for
this opportunity a long time and can't wait to get in the studio again
where I find my comfort. Singing is and has always been my true
passion.
Many thanks to those who
support me - see you at my next gig!
